Soderbergh challenges his creative boundaries with this nifty paranormal narrative filmed completely through the eyes of a ghost. As a family featuring mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe occupies their new suburban house, the lens – representing the ghost – tracks their movements. This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller holds up well despite the lack of a continuation. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, multiple kidnappings has left the youth on edge. But the disconnected phone mounted nearby continues to ring, with eerie communicators providing assistance, as the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen might rescue him. An effective horror. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for greed in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top biopic of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye commence capitalizing on the people's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, though the lead actress manages to present the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, early morning, Film4
